Atmosphere: Dark, cherry-stained pine lines the walls and gives the Cornerstone a very comfortable yet masculine atmosphere.  A variety of tables as well as booths.  There is a separate large bar area in the building, with plenty of seating and gaming options (Bingo, video games, pull-tabs, darts, etc)

Menu: Sandwiches include steak sandwich, dutch steak sandwich, Reuben, Patty melt, chicken supreme, prime rib, walleye sandwich, and  veggie burger.  The cornerstone also offers a build-your-own-burger with a variety of toppings to choose from.

Dinner entrees include the famous “Queen” or “King” cut Prime Rib, T-bone steaks, ribeye, New Yorl strip, sirloin, hamburger steak, extra thick boneless pork loin, pork chops with a variety of seasonings to choose from, BBQ ribs, liver and onions, deep fried chicken, walleye dinner, shrimp scampi, breaded jumbo shrimp, stuffed shrimp.

There are a few children’s menu items, salads and soups as well.

Price guide: Sandwiches $7-9  Entrees $10-20
What I ordered: The Reuben.  I practically consider myself a Reuben connoisseur, and this Reuben is one of the best I have EVER had!!  The corned beef was sliced very thin, but was tender as could be, with awesome flavor.  The bread was grilled to a nice, toasty texture, without any of the sogginess you might experience from grilled sandwiches elsewhere.  The 1000 island dressing came served on the side.  They also gave me a ton of fries, which were thin and crispy.  A big hit overall!

Two of my companions ordered the Prime Rib.  Featured here is the “King Cut”, 20-24 oz.  This steak is MASSIVE!! The taste was very good, and for $20, I don’t know if you can find a prime rib steak that is any bigger or better for the price.

Another companion ordered the stuffed shrimp.  This was simply, “alright”. The breading of the shrimp was nice and crispy, but the inside was lightly filled with a cheesy/crab mixture that had a very blended texture.

Service: Could be much better! This is the second time I had eaten at the Cornerstone and the serving staff does not seem to be very friendly or helpful.  There were four of us dining on this occasion, and when the server brought out complimentary soup/salads for the entrees that my companions ordered, she only brought us three rolls! I cannot recall whether the menu included a dinner roll with the Reuben, but come on! In my opinion, enough dinner rolls should be brought to the table for everyone who is seated, regardless of what they ordered.
Overall Impression: Nice atmosphere for both dining and entertainment. Great Prime Rib for the money and excellent Reubens.  Service needs improvement.

  1. I come here every wed. with my family get the best service with lots of smiles from our server Addi. She does great and the food is so good it keeps us family of 12 coming back every week. I just don,t understand where these bad reports are coming from. we,ll all e back….

  2. I knew they were short staffed in the kitchen but decided to wait it out. BIg misake. Order appetizers, took 45 minutes for them to cook 6 tiny chicken strips and 3 tater tots. When I questioned the portion size, the waiter said they made a mistake and that we got a kiddie menu item. Unreal. The correct check strips came out in 10 minutes. Huh??? Sorry to say I won’t be back there any time soon.

  3. Not impressed. Was told service was great and food good. Food ok. Service lacked smiles and friendliness. Too busy and even people in bar not friendly. If u r a regular like bill and linda who I know buy lots of drinks get better treatment.

    • Yes when I have been in there no smiles or friendly atmosphere. Food fair. And yes bill and linda will keep them in business for a long while. Bills favorite passtime is drinking and their marriage is an unhappy one. So drinks galore for them and I’m sure cornerstone loves them. Building small but nice.

    • I just had the same deal. Been to this place on and off and for the life of me I don’t know why I go back. I don’t plan on making this mistake again. Unless you are a regular avoid this place. Food was med at best.

  4. food on scale of 1/10 10 being the best.. i give it a 6 but the service is weak at best maybe a 2 and that is being kind.. seems to me that these people could be a lot nicer and better educated about the menu. people seem to forget sometimes that they work for tips. no matter the service i will leave in the range of 20% minimum but that is me. think how much more you could be making with just a smile on your face and healthy attitude. welcome to the cornerstone pub, my name is——— can i start you out with some drinks and maybe an appetizer.. our special tonight is———- . be right back with your drink order and again my name is———— if you need anything else….

  5. I was looking forward to trying this place for the first time but i see the reviews are not so hot. I think I’ll try it at least my expectations will be low

  6. I had half a deep fried chicken for the first and last time. The crust was too brown and hard, to the point where it dried the meat underneath. I ended up with a plate full of crust and a few mouthfuls of chicken. I asked the server if she thought the color of the crust was normal and that I had expected it to be golden brown. She got defensive, but said, “That’s normal”. Very disappointing meal. 3 on a 10 scale.

  7. I love this place! The prime is excellent! Good lunch specials,or the prime rib sandwich(open faced ) is very good, you’ll want a nap after eating it though. I’m a fan of the Wednesday night all you can eat prime rib special, and their bloody marys are always a good start. Can’t say I’ve had bad service.

  8. I have been craving the Reuben at Cornerstone so I plan to come back again
soon, hopefully I will get you for a server :)

  9. Thanks for some of the comments! but you will see if you return to the cornerstone that the service as improved. I hope you can return and get a good server that you treat you right, like me! Thanks for the review and again come back to do another!

  10. My husband and I went here for Valentines day. We waited to be seated without a reservation, but not long considering their usual wait. This was the first time in years we had been there and I’m sure it will be years until we go back. The salads were dry and tasteless with tons of red onion as the only garnishment. My filet mignon came and it looked like it should be delicious, but I have never had a more bland piece of meat. My husbands broiled walleye looked poached and had a slime underneath it. Never received the complimentary champagne they advertised. Big disappointment. Much better places to eat.

  11. I love this place!! I live pretty close and my husband and I love to go Wednesday nights for all you can eat prime rib. Also a fan of the prime rib sandwich on the lunch menu(the open faced one). Never had a bad experience here with service or otherwise.Great Bloody Mary’s too!!

    • I was looking forward to trying the Prime Rib tonight. We order our drinks and then when we order our meal we were told Prime Rib is all out. We were thoroughly disappointed. I order the breaded Shrimp. It was mushy. Our companions ordered steaks which were overdone. To top it off it took over one hour to get our meals We will not be back. There were six in our party that’s six people who will not be back.

  12. We have eaten here in the past and food was good. Today, not so much. Service was the worst, they took forever (45mn for our main course after our soups) and we had a two year old with and can you believe the last thing to come out was her pizza (if you can call it that). The fried chicken was all a very thick, peppery coat of batter, the rueben had no 1000 island dressing (I wasn’t going to ask for it after waiting so long) and the corned beef tasted “off”. Taco salad had mixed bagged lettuce for the base with maybe a 2oz portion of meat. And everything fried (fries, chicken, taco salad shell) tasted like fish. We won’t be going back.
