What I ordered: I had the dinner buffet, as I always do when I eat-in at King’s City.  I had Chow Mein, Twice Cooked Pork, Chicken Lomein, Sweet and Sour Chicken, an Eggroll and Fried Wontons.  The chow mein is very basic, celery with a small amount of ground pork (the best chow mein at King’s City is the Chicken Subgum which is not offered on the buffet).  The Chicken Lomein was very good, tons of vegetables mixed in with tender pieces of white-meat chicken, and thin.  The Twice Cooked Pork has a nice zing to it, and also has a nice mix of Asian veggies.  The Sweet and Sour Chicken was also good, with bite-sized pieces of chicken breaded and deep fried to a crispy golden brown.  The batter is slightly thick on the chicken, and sweet and sour sauce is served on the side to maintain crispiness of chicken.  The Fried Wontons are very crispy, filled with a mixture of ground pork and spices (green onion?).

Service: King’s City prides itself on excellent service.  The servers are all very attentive so used plates are taken away immediately and drinks refilled with a quickness.  The owner, Sam, is a very friendly guy and is very personable with his customers (many of whom are long-term).
Overall Impression: Fast and friendly; very good Chinese food.  The buffet is somewhat limited, but the quality of food is above average and reasonably priced.  Can’t go wrong to order off menu.  Awesome customer service.

  1. Had the dinner buffet and drinks on 3-30-15 with a friend. The bill came to over 28$. After I got home I kept thinking that the bill was high. So got on this web page to find out what the price of the buffet is. Dinner buffet shows $9.75 and we were charged $11.55 and $11/25, 30 cents off for senior, which should have been $1.00 off for each of us for being 55+. So we were over charge and do not plan to eat there again.

    • Larry,
This review is 6 years old and way out-dated. Surely you can expect a restaurant to increase their prices slightly over a 6 year period. $28 is not bad for two adult buffet dinners.

  2. I have been eating there for over 20 years. NOBODY does Cream cheese wantons like Sam the owner!! The food and staff are great!

  3. Why come you are not open on the weekends?

  4. This is the best Chinese in the area, my sisters and I and neice go often.
Really good food and Sam and the staff is great. We always enjoy it!

  5. My whole family (and extended family) have been customers of King’s City since it opened in ’82. I’m in my mid-30’s have been going to Sams since I was 6 years old and now I bring my children there. The food is great and the atomosphere is friendly and comfortable. The buffet and decor haven’t changed much since it opened, but that’s what I like about it. My children love going there because they know that when they walk in the door they’ll get a “high five” from Sam!

  6. I worked at Kings City for 3 years. Sam and Camy are the greatest and nicest people I know. Sam is always so friendly and Camy is always singing away in the back. Those two work very hard to make their resturant such a great place to eat. Sam made me the employee I am today and I have learned a lot from him and the food is amazing, Im going there tonight for take out!

  7. I tried King’s City after reading your review and thought it was also excellent. We really enjoyed the food and the service was exceptional. Jackpot!

  8. I have been going to “Sam’s” since I was in my moms belly :) My family knows the owner well and have never had a bad expirence!

  9. my used to be best friend is a hostess there. i am so going to go there just for that reason!!! haha
    see you soon holly lorenz!

  10. Glad you enjoyed King’s City, John!
I haven’t had their lunch buffet in a long time, but I eat the dinner buffet
at least once a month :)

  11. I just got back from the lunch buffet and let me say this place is fantastic! I had the same two entrees as you, and they were great (the twice cooked pork was great). The wontons were some of the best I’ve eaten, the sweet and sour sauce was lovingly homemade, and as you mentioned, the service was top notch.
This was my first visit, and I’ll surely be back. Thanks for the review!

  12. Sounds like a great place to dine. I don’t mind that the “buffet is somewhat limited.” If the quality of the Chinese food is above average then it is well worth it. I’ve been to a number of restaurants where the buffet is huge! But the food, “blah”.

  13. Owner Sam Ma is the nicest guy ever! I love King’s City.
