Arrive early if you want a seat, otherwise you will be standing outside in a line. We went about 4:30 on a Saturday and waited about 20 minutes to get a seat. Once seated service was great and fast. Food was okay… I got the veggie burger, probably my first mistake when going to a burger place but i would go back.

I have been to this 5-8 location once, but have made it to the Mpls. location many times, off 58th and Cedar! Love the Onion Straws, battered mushrooms, and the blue cheese filled Juicy Lucy!

I had the roadhouse burger and a cup of coleslaw with a tall beer on tap…she came by to ask if i needed anything else and I had to shake off the haze of pure bliss….(roadhouse-special sauce, cheese, bacon, onion rings, pickles)

Great place for after work beers and really good burgers. lots of parking and plenty of seating even on a busy night.

I wouldn’t get the juicy lucy here again, but I would most definitely get the Saucy Sally variation! The sauce inside is so tasty-a sweet tangy flavor- and when heated it’s so marvelous! Fries not very good though, stay away from those.

If you were disappointed at the 5-8 club, try Matt’s bar on Cedar & 35th in Minneapolis. They have the same famed Jucys, but with a bit less cheese and grease … aka the perfect balanced Jucy Lucy. (Even the Travel Channel agrees, Matts beat out the 5-8 in a throwdown battle!)

Plus, all Matt’s does is burgers, fries, beer and pop. They’re a perfect little dive bar that hasn’t changed a bit with popularity or demand. Perfection.

I had the jucy lucy at the 5-8 in Champlin. Nothing great and was extremely disappointed overall after hearing so much hype over it for so many years. We would never go back, but I will try the JL some place else next time.
