What we ordered: I ordered a Reuben which is usually one of my favorite varieties of sandwich.  It was made with marbled pumpernickel bread and despite being grilled, the sandwich was somewhat soggy (which I attributed this to being boxed-up to-go).    The corned beef seemed to be of the sliced processed variety rather than real brisket, and was very mildly flavored.  The sandwich had several slices of melted Swiss cheese and a mayo-type spread (not thousand island). The sauerkraut was almost non-existent on one half but heavy on the other.  It came with a pickle spear and potato chips. Not the Reuben of my dreams.

Upon recommendation from the staff at Aesop’s, I ordered the Porker sandwich for my companion.  Very good! The sandwich was piled high with tender pulled pork, tossed lightly in a BBQ sauce that was somewhat spicy and peppery. The top and bottom bun were thick sesame seed buns, toasted.  The meal also came with a side of beans that were somewhat sweet yet savory with chunks of bacon and a side of creamy coleslaw.

Service: The staff at Aesop’s Table were very friendly and readily offered suggestions from the menu.  Food was prepared quickly in front of me while I waited.
Overall Impression: Very good prices for the amount of food you get, service is fast & friendly.  I would get the Porker sandwich again but not the Reuben.

  1. I’ve used their catering twice. (My wedding, in fact.) Our guests said it was the best wedding food they had ever had. They pulled off a buffet for a price far less than plated or buffets offered by all the big local venues. Our venue let us use our own caterer. (Landmark center.) We had their beef/pork combo (they tie the two together and roast them) with mashed potatoes and green bean almondine. The mashed potatoes were real (not reconstituted) and everyone got more than enough. I also used them for an anniversary group get-together we had at a local park. They packed everything up in chafing dishes and we were took it out there. So much flavor in the brisket. Great stuff.

  2. Has anyone used their catering service??

  3. I work near Aesops, and have had lunch there many, many times. I have to agree with you about the Rueben. The Porker is a frequent lunch of mine, unless it is Thursday. Thursday’s special is BBQ Ribs with Au-Gratin potatoes. Both are excellent.

As Stacy commented above, the A Burger (Aesops’ Burger) is also a great choice. I’ve had the new addition “Juicy Lucy”, and wasn’t a fan.

You need to go to John’s Pizza Cafe across the street. Best. Pizza. Ever. Try a California Dreamer or their Hawaiian. They have slices at lunch of different pizzas, but usually not the Cali Dreamer.

  4. Get the A Burger, Best Hamburger I have had!!
