What we ordered: We started with the complimentary Chips, Salsa, Creamy Jalapeño Ranch Dip, Happy Hour Margaritas, and Mexican Martinis. Chuy’s chips are served hot and crisp, and the spicy salsa is fresh and slightly chunky. Chuy’s prides itself on making its salsa fresh every hour. I had also heard I had to try the Creamy Jalapeno dip and I am so glad I did! It is delicious; a ranch-style dip with finely chopped jalapeño to give it a little kick. The margarita was also excellent, made of freshly squeezed lime juice, with an extra shot of Patron on top for just $1 more during Happy Hour.

For my entree I had the Taco and Enchilada Combo. I thought it was pretty awesome that I was allowed to pick exactly what I wanted: A Baja Fish Taco and the Spicy Chicken Enchilada, which happened to be one of the daily specials. The fish taco was a crispy deep-fried catfish fillet served with cilantro, shredded purple cabbage, and creamy jalapeno in a flour tortilla. I also got a side of shredded cheese with it and piled on the hot salsa. YUM!! I just adore fish tacos!! The spicy chicken enchilada was also very good (although I was too full to eat more than a few bites!) and definitely spicy! I am not sure what kind of sauce it had over the top but it was very tasty and hot. I also had my choice of rice and decided to go with the green chile rice, which was full of kick and very good! I was very happy with my meal.
Another companion ordered the Chicken Enchiladas smothered in Tomatillo Sauce with Mexican Rice and Refried Beans. The meat was pulled from roasted chicken, very tender, flavorful and moist. Very good!
Overall Impression: Our service at Chuy’s was excellent; we were served by a younger guy named Daniel (Lamar location) who went out of his way to take care of us. The food was excellent and the prices were extremely reasonable. Awesome salsa and the creamy jalapeno dip is a MUST!
