MINNEAPOLIS (January 14, 2011) – Kaskaid Hospitality, under the leadership of CRAVE owner Kam Talebi, is launching a new concept, Sopranos Italian Kitchen, with Executive Chef J.P. Samuelson.

The new restaurant, which will feature a fresh, modern twist on classic Italian dining, will be located in the space recently occupied by Ringo at the Shops at West End in St. Louis Park. In addition, Kaskaid Hospitality recently closed The View restaurant in the Calhoun Beach Club and is remodeling the space, which will reopen in February as Urban Eatery.

Sopranos Italian Kitchen will offer diners a unique twist on traditional Italian meals featuring seasonal, local ingredients served in a hip, contemporary environment at a value-driven price point. The Sopranos menu will present traditional, flavorful dishes such wood-fired steaks, hand-made pasta dishes including risotto and gnocchi, and rotisserie chicken along with an antipasti bar updated daily with fresh cheeses and meats, salads prepared table-side and much more. In addition, the restaurant will feature wine from keg barrels – a trend gaining popularity at restaurants in New York and Chicago.

“The Sopranos concept will offer the Twin Cities a new generation of Italian cuisine in a hip and casual, yet energetic environment that makes every meal a celebration,” said Kam Talebi, CEO of Kaskaid Hospitality. “We are thrilled to add J.P. Samuelson to our culinary team at Kaskaid Hospitality, and are confident his leadership and culinary skills will provide the perfect seasoning to make Sopranos a huge success.”

The new menu concept is being created by Chef J.P. Samuelson, who has worked at a variety of celebrated restaurants such as Bouley, Tropica and Judson Grill located in Manhattan along with his own restaurant jP American Bistro in Minneapolis. Samuelson is known for his seasonal and eclectic menus influenced by his diverse culinary background.

“Sopranos truly is the next generation of Italian-inspired dining and I am excited to be a part of this new venture,” said J.P. Samuelson, Executive Chef of Sopranos. “The menu will be a great blend of artisan cooking and simple, flavorful, locally sourced Italian dishes that will change seasonally.”

In addition, partner Keyvan Talebi, Operations Executive Dave Sincebaugh, and the GM, who is yet to be announced, will support the launch of the concept.

The nearly 8,000 square foot restaurant is being designed by Shea Architecture Inc. and interior design firm Kamarron Design. Sopranos is scheduled to open in March.  For more information visit sopranosmn.com.

One Response to “Sopranos Italian Kitchen coming to Shops at West End”

    Sopranos
Barely a restaurant, but already discriminating.

Not even a few weeks before this apparent anticipated restaurant which is slated to open in March, already has come under scrutiny of management being discriminative in its hiring process. Words being used like, “I’m going to be riding your tail and busting your chops all the time” is a brief description of what one manager had to say to an applicant. This being another restaurant owned by the Crave franchise I am saddened to see how its management team has put a damper on a name that stands for good environment, friendly staff and not being an equal opportunity employer.
