Food Day is coming!
After months of planning, the event that highlights healthy, sustainable food is happening next Monday.
Event: The University of Minnesota will host a day-long Food Expo, a variety of presentations and cooking demonstrations open to everyone, and a panel discussion. Mayor R.T. Rybak and Council Member Cam Gordon will lead the Good Food Rally, taking place inside the Food Expo.
Date & Time: Monday, October 24th, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (Mayor at 11:30 am)
Location: Coffman Student Union’s Great Hall, UMN campus
Food Day activities at the University of Minnesota are being led by the Healthy Foods, Healthy Lives Institute. Food Day sponsors include the U of M Office for Student Affairs, TCF Bank, the Coca-Cola Academic Initiative Grant and the Campus Club. The event is free and open to the public. Students hope that members from all across the Twin Cities community will attend.
Other Food Day Events Happening October 24th:
Event: Minneapolis Department of Health and Family organizes a series of Food Day activities including VOICE (Valuing Our Individual Cultures through Engagement) participants, an African American Community event. A food demonstration will also be conducted.

Location: Park Avenue United Methodist Church on 34th and Park Avenue, Minneapolis
Event: The IDS Center will celebrate Food Day and the kickoff of a building-wide food drive. The Emergency Foodshelf Network will be on hand with games and Food Day information, and the Mayoral proclamation will be broadcast from the University of Minnesota to the Crystal Court at 11:30 am. The Center’s 4000 tenants will participate in the food drive through October 26 with all donations going to the Emergency Foodshelf Network.
