Atmosphere: Cold as Ice! As the name suggests, the temperature of the room is below freezing at -5′ C or 29′ F. The Stillwater location of Minus 5 is a temporary attraction and the Ice Lounge is contained inside a large refridgerated trailer. The entire room, bar, and all furniture is made of ice, even the glasses are made of ice! Before patrons visit the Ice Bar, they are given a parka and gloves to wear.
There are several cool ice sculptures inside the Ice Lounge
Menu: There are 8 drinks available, one of which is a non-alcoholic drink. Click photo below to view a bigger image of the menu.
Price guide: Admission into the ice lounge is $12.95 and includes a cocktail.
What I ordered: I had the Icy Margarita. It was great! Strong and Sour, just the way I like them.
Service: Our service was exceptional. Everyone affiliated with the Ice Bar and the Freight House was very nice and helpful. D.J., the bartender inside the Ice Bar is a true Minnesotan, thoroughly enjoying the long shifts worked inside the frigid room.
Overall Impression: The Minus 5 Ice Lounge is a very cool attraction; a great place to cool down and have an ice-cold drink or just enjoy the novelty. If you plan to visit, I highly suggest wearing warm shoes and socks!

Atmosphere: The structure of the restaurant is made of logs, so as you would expect, the interior has the feel of a giant lodge. The vaulted ceilings make the large dining room appear even bigger than it is. There are several wooden tables to accommodate various sized groups and a selection of booths as well. Attached to the dining room is a nice bar area.
Menu: Appetizers include Angus Bites, Chicken Bites, BBQ Chicken Nachos, Onion Stacks, Walleye Fingers, Sal’s Spuds, Coconut Shrimp, Pasta Nachos, Pork Wontons, Beer Battered Mushrooms, and Bruschetta. Sal’s also has Chicken Noodle Soup, Chicken Wild Rice, and a Soup of the Day.
Salads offered are the Angus Bite, Chopped Chef, Caesar, BLT, and Sal’s Salad.
Sal’s also has a handful of specialty sandwiches such as the Hot Dago, Buffalo Chicken, Angus Bit and Italian Chicken. You can also build your own burger or chicken breast sandwich.
Pastas include Homemade Lasagna, Chicken Penne, Spaghetti and Meatballs, Fettucine Alfredo, and Baked Chicken Parmesan.
Entrees are served with green beans and choice of potato, featuring Angus Sirloin, New York Strip, Ribeye, Sunfish, Walleye, Salmon, Jumbo Shrimp, BBQ Pork Ribs, Pork Tenderloin, Broasted Chicken, and Stuffed Chicken Breast.
Price guide: Appetizers $ 8-10 Sandwiches $8-10 Pasta $12-16 Entrees $17-22
What I ordered: We were given complimentary rolls with a sweet, sugary butter. I love it when restaurants have bread and flavored butter!
We started with Buffalo wings, which happened to be very large and crispy. The buffalo sauce was tangy and I could detect a hint of garlic in the bleu cheese, a nice addition to the standard buffalo/bleu cheese combo.
I ordered the Hot Dago because I was really in the mood for Italian and although a Steak House/ Bar & Grill is not the place one would typically think would have good Italian food, I was really happy with my sandwich! Served on a large slice of toasted Italian bread, the meat was a tasty combination of both beef and Italian pork sausage grilled into a patty. It had a light amount of sauce on top (with extra sauce served on the side), then topped with grated mozzarella and parmesan. The flavor of the sandwich was really good and the bread stayed crispy rather than getting soggy from too much sauce. The Dago came with a ton of fries that were hot and salty.
After debating whether to get Prime Rib or Ribeye, one of my companions ordered the 14 oz. Ribeye with loaded baked potato. The steak was really tender and the baked potato was loaded with cheddar, bacon, green onion, and sour cream on the side. The green beans were perfectly cooked and had a slightly sweet flavor.
Another companion started with the Italian Wedding Soup and then had the California Burger. I didn’t try either of these, but the soup looked good. The burger was supposedly “good”, but the perfect roundness of it makes me think that it may have been a frozen patty rather than from fresh ground beef?
Service: Our visit was late on a Saturday night, so we pretty much had the place to ourselves. Our server was really good and had suggestions that helped make our decisions.
Overall Impression: Really good for a rural restaurant. The prices seemed reasonable for what you got and the service was good.

Atmosphere: Festive, with the walls painted with murals and is somewhat made to resemble a Mexican courtyard.
The Woodbury location also has a large bar area with several large-screen TV's playing different sporting events.
There were also several round tables for their weekly Texas Hold 'Em tournaments. Seemed like a quite a popular place!
Menu: Appetizers include Acapulco's famous Cheese Dip, Guacamole, 5 Layer Dip, Taquitos, and Nachos. Burritos include the Acapulco Burrito (steak), the Burrito National (smothered with cheese sauce), Creamed Burritos, Fajita Burrito, Wet Burrito (covered in enchilada sauce), and Chile Relleno Burrito. Tacos include ground beef, grilled chicken, grilled beef, shrimp, mahi-mahi, and carnitas (pork). Quesadilla include Queso (cheese), mushroom/onion/tomato, Relleno (stewed chicken or beef), or the Fajita Quesadilla.
Entree specials include Grilled Beef or Chicken Fajitas, Carne Asada, Chile Colorado, Carnitas, Chimichanga (with stewed chicken or beef), Seafood Chimichanga, Grilled Chicken, Taquitos, Pollo Dulce (Marinated chicken with sweet salsa), Chilaquiles Pollo (Stewed chicken casserole), Green Chili Pork, Poblano Chili, and Chicken with Rice.
If you're in the mood to try a few different items, Acapulco has 10 menu combination plates. They also offer a build-your-own combo where you can pick-two or three or four items (tacos, enchiladas, burritos, chili rellenos, tostadas or tamales).
Price guide: Appetizers $4-8 Burritos $7-8 Tacos 2 for $5-6 Quesadilla $5-8 Entrees $8-14 Combos $8-10
What we ordered: To start off, we had complimentary chips and salsa. The chips were hot and crispy and the salsa was good for standard mild tomato salsa.
My companion and I ordered several plates to share. We ordered a four-combo platter with a beef taco (for me), a chill relleno (for her), and two enchiladas.
The beef taco was pretty good. The crispy corn shell was filled with beef. The chile relleno was also pretty good, with a nice crispy batter and delicious spicy pepper. The enchiladas….um, how can I say this diplomatically?….were not to my liking. I did not care at all for the soggy stewed chicken mixture and the enchilada sauce itself did not seem to be the kind of homemade origins. The beans and rice were served separately…the refried beans were thick but good. The rice was not the custom Spanish rice, but rather a mild flavored rice with mixed vegetables.
The fajitas were pretty good. The chicken and steak were marinated and grilled and served with a ton of peppers and onions. Our server happily brought us an extra side of tortillas and never charged us for them.
Service: Pretty friendly and fast. Drinks were served frequently.
Overall Impression: The restaurant had a fun atmosphere, especially with the crowd that was in the bar area playing poker… I know that at least the Woodbury location offers Texas Hold 'Em tournaments a few nights per week, not sure about the others. The food however, was nothing to rave about. Mediocre. My suggestion is to stick with grilled meats rather than the stewed.

Atmosphere:Long and narrow with a long bar spanning the length of the space, the atmosphere in Whitey’s Saloon seems much more that of a bar than a restaurant. There are several big windows, however, that brighten the restaurant during daytime hours. There are about a dozen tables total (bar height and regular height), each sitting up to 4 people.
Menu: Appetizers include Buffalo Wings, Chicken or Veggie Quesadillas, Crab Cakes, Baked Brie, Hummus and Tapenade, Artichoke and Crab Dip, Nachos, Walleye Strips, and Beef or Tuna Tataki.
Sandwiches include Slow Roasted Beef, Grilled Tuna, Grilled Portabello Mushroom, Hot Pastrami, Hamburger or Turkey Burger, Clubhouse, B.L.T, Sliced Beef Tenderloin, Grilled Cheese, Tuna Melt, Reuben, Grilled Chicken, BBQ chicken or Pulled Pork, Meatloaf, Walleye or Hot Italian Sausage. Salads include Caesar, Cobb, Fajita, Greek chicken, Sirloin and Asian chicken.
Entrees include Chicken Enchiladas, Meatloaf Dinner, Veggie Burrito, Baked Italian Sausage Penne, Chicken Kabobs, Cajun Pork Chop, Filet Mignon and Walleye.
Price guide: Appetizers $ 8-10 Sandwiches $7-9 Salads $7-9 Entrees $9-15
What I ordered: Veggie burrito with chicken. Probably not the best choice to order at an American saloon, but I was in the mood for Mexican, what can I say??!! The server recommended this over the chicken enchiladas. They did not offer a chicken burrito on the menu, but they were more than willing to add chicken to their veggie burrito for me. I was disappointed that the burrito did not come with black beans as the menu stated, and the rice didn’t have a ton of flavor. I enjoyed the spinach and the grilled chicken was also good (although it wasn’t marinated and didn’t have any special seasonings). The guacamole and salsa were fresh, both made with cilantro. Overall the burrito was decent, but not anything special. It definitely needed the salsa and guacamole to give it flavor!
My one of my companions ordered the buffalo wings. They were good, although the sauce was on the mild side. Texture of the chicken was not crispy, but rather soggy and chewy. The bleu cheese dressing had good flavor but was really watered down and lacked chunks of bleu cheese.
Another companion ordered the veggie quesadilla that was packed full of cheese, black bean paste, spinach and tomatoes. The tortilla was crispy and overall the quesadilla was very, very good.
Another companion ordered the Club sandwich. This may have been the most popular item ordered by our group! The toasted bread had great texture and was buttery, the bacon was thick and crisp. French fries were nice and crispy as well.
And another companion ordered the BLT sandwich. Besides coming with a ton of crispy fries, the sandwich was also buttery and had really good, thick, crisp bacon and fresh lettuce and tomatoes.
Service: We were able to be seated immediately however all of the tables in the restaurant are configured for a maximum of 4 people. We had to put two little tables together in a corner in order to get our party of 7 to fit. The waitress was nice but despite how slow the restaurant was, it took quite some time for the server to check on us and bring us refills on our drinks.
Overall Impression: Decent food at a reasonable price. Nothing fancy about the atmosphere, but located in a great spot downtown Stillwater. Parking is hard to find, so you can expect to walk a block or two.
